ways to work
The Problem
Many families live paycheck to paycheck, despite the long, hard hours they put in at work. Life is unpredictable and unexpected. Sickness or unanticipated expenses can plunge a family into crisis. For some, owning a reliable car means the difference between getting and keeping a good job, getting to the grocery store, getting their child to the doctor or dentist, or having their child involved in extracurricular activities.
The Solution
Family Services’ Ways to Work program provides loans, ranging from $500 to $6,000, to help qualifying families purchase a used car or pay for car repairs (repair maximum is $1,000). Borrowers repay the loan at a modest interest rate, for a term of 12-36 months, depending on the loan amount.
| Ways to Work has three primary goals: |
| 1) | To assist families with reliable transportation to help them retain their current employment or obtain a better position elsewhere |
| 2) |
To educate and work with families to build a positive credit history |
| 3) |
To assist families in stabilizing their lives and becoming self-sufficient |
