Results You Can See
Family Services has been serving the families of Forsyth, Davie, and Stokes counties since 1905. We provide a wide range of services that are vital to strengthening families and our community.

Personal and Family Counseling Services
Expanded clinical services were provided to low-income families, with 28% having Medicaid coverage.

Continued participation in Graduating Our Future, a collaborative program developed by the United Way of Forsyth County to increase high-school graduation rates at Parkland and Philo schools.

3,200 counseling sessions provided; 85% documented improvement in mental health functioning.

Ways to Work
95% of program participants reported decrease in the number of days of work missed; 75% reported earning higher wages as a result of having reliable transportation.

CONTACT Reassurance
In 2009, CONTACT Reassurance made over 11,600 calls to elderly or home-bound individuals. 76% of clients and 88% of caregivers reported improvement in their quality of life and ability to live independently.

Head Start
Over 499 children received healthy meals, health screenings, and classroom instruction allowing them to successfully prepare for kindergarten...and life.

Head Start families continue to receive the support they need to further their education and obtain better paying jobs.

Head Start children entering kindergarten showed a 1-year increase in test scores of 16-23% in language development and literacy, as well as math and science skills.

Safe Relationships
In 2009, 294 women and children were served at Family Services Shelter with a total of 3,619 nights of care provided.

At Safe on Seven, 1,725 clients (an increase of 30% over 2008) requested services for protective orders and 3,044 victims were reached through our pre-court information sessions in Forsyth County District Court.

Over 2000 community members learned how to recognize signs of victimization, how to appropriately respond to victims and information on local programs and services available to victims through community education and training events related to domestic violence and sexual assault.

Expanded Raising Awareness and Prevention (R.A.P.), a rape prevention program for male youth and college students; held the first Walk A Mile in Her Shoes event to raise awareness of violence against women.

Recruited more members for Teens-4-Change, a peer education and leadership program for female high school students; Teens-4-Change received funding to increase capacity.

Strong Fathers, an innovative program for positive male parenting, was developed in collaboration with other partners including Forsyth County Department of Social Services.
