Ways to Work CONTACT Reassurance Head Start Head Start families continue to receive the support they need to further their education and obtain better paying jobs. Head Start children entering kindergarten showed a 1-year increase in test scores of 16-23% in language development and literacy, as well as math and science skills. Safe Relationships At Safe on Seven, 1,725 clients (an increase of 30% over 2008) requested services for protective orders and 3,044 victims were reached through our pre-court information sessions in Forsyth County District Court. Over 2000 community members learned how to recognize signs of victimization, how to appropriately respond to victims and information on local programs and services available to victims through community education and training events related to domestic violence and sexual assault. Expanded Raising Awareness and Prevention (R.A.P.), a rape prevention program for male youth and college students; held the first Walk A Mile in Her Shoes event to raise awareness of violence against women. Recruited more members for Teens-4-Change, a peer education and leadership program for female high school students; Teens-4-Change received funding to increase capacity. Strong Fathers, an innovative program for positive male parenting, was developed in collaboration with other partners including Forsyth County Department of Social Services.
